Times Square Receiving Its First Eco-Friendly Billboard

New York is set to receive its first eco-friendly billboard in December.  Powered by 16 wind turbines and 64 solar panels, the billboard will be the first of its kind in Times Square.  Weighing in at 35,000, the $3 million dollar billboard will have no backup generator which means the billboard could go dark in times of no sun and wind.  The sign could save from $12,000 to $15,000 a month in electricity costs and would reduce carbon emissions by 18 tons a year.
