From Hopland, California comes SolFest, the premiere festival of its kind to showcase sustainable living and renewable energy.
Born in 1996, so far over 100,000 people have attended this annual event, with crowds growing larger every year. Packed with over 50 workshops in 6 workshop tents, SolFest not only teaches about renewable energy, but features world renowned speakers like Ed Begley Jr-actor and solar power as well as any renewable power guru, Caroline Casey-visionary activist and Derrick Jensen—environmental activist, plus many many more, with different speakers every year.
Although the festival itself lasts only 2 days per year, workshops go on all year long. In fact, published on their website*, they have dedicated the month of January to solar power. They offer such classes and workshops like, Solar Marketing; Solar design and installation; The economics of solar, and Introduction to electric vehicle basics.
This is the main event when it comes to everything solar, and it is served by permanent buildings, so you know that this is no flash in the pan. Their motto is, ‘Demonstrate, Educate, Activate’, and no better words can describe SolFest for what it does.
Check out the website I have listed, and if you have even so much as a passing interest to attend, it will be more than worth your while to do so. Cutting edge all the way, and quite rightly billed as, ‘The Greenest Show on Earth.’
