For you and me it’s the same old story, oil prices rule the day. Our society is so tuned in to oil prices, that any alternative energy source takes a bow when big oil comes walking down the aisle. Yes, we bow, we humble ourselves to the great and omnipotent oil price that is posted every day, we grovel at the feet of gasoline, especially if it goes lower than 2 bucks per gallon!
Solar cells do a dance with oil virtually every day. When oil prices are up, solar takes center stage, but when oil prices fall, solar is relegated to the back of the chorus line. Although I can dance with the best of them, this type of two-stepping makes me ill.
We have it within us the technology to break the chains of oil that surround us all. We have access to free energy from the sun, every one of us, we can all throw off our manipulative oil dancing partner, and go solo where a better world and a better economy awaits. We have this power, we can do this now.
Unfortunately, oil won’t allow us to just walk away. As solar builds growth momentum, you can bet your solar panels that oil prices will drop. And when prices drop, people will once again start thinking about taking up their dance partner anew, because if oil is cheap and available, why get into anything else?
It’s a conspiracy, that’s why. Oil has outlived its usefulness, other technology can do the same thing with zero pollution, less maintenance, and in the long run, virtually doing it for free. That’s exactly what solar panels are, the technology oil companies do not want you to get in to, and to prove it, as the solar industry ramps up, just keep your eyes peeled on the price of oil. How low can it go?
