Thomas Edison’s Foresight
Here’s a quote by Thomas Edison that has much prescience today.
Evidently Edison spoke with Elbert Hubbard (a famous writer of the day) in 1910 and observed, “Sunshine is a form of energy, wind and sea currents are manifestations of this energy. Do we make use of them? Oh No! We burn forests and coal, like tenants burning down our front door for heating. We live like wild settlers and not as though these resources belong to us.”
Fortunately, today we do make use of the sun’s energy. Edison was correct in calling us on our excess. However, as more and more of us tap into our very cool renewable energy resources hopefully we can put our non-renewable energy sources into smarter uses as well.
